January Book Club
Thursday, January 9, 7:30 PM

The next meeting of the Stanford Book Club will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2003, at 7.30 p.m. at the home of Florence Temko. New members are always welcome.

Please let Florence know by the previous Tuesday that you will be able to attend and request driving directions, if necessary. Phone: 858-483-5122, or e-mail: ftemko@san.rr.com

The book chosen for discussion is "Women of the Silk" by Gail Tsukiyama, available in paperback. The story of a Chinese girl informs us about conditions in China before the Revolution, with well-developed characters. Reviewers found the book to be "compelling" and "vivid." Sounds as if we are in for a good read.

At the last meeting several members decided to attend the upcoming Stanford Holiday Party on December 10th as announced in the Newsletter. We have now arranged to have our own friendly table. If you and your guests would like to join in, please make your reservation in the regular way with Neil Gerber (nwgerber@adelphia.net), adding that you are with the Book Club.
