CLASS NOTES AND OBITUARIES

I sent an update to my Class Correspondent. Why isn’t it in the magazine?

It’s probably in the pipeline. Because it takes time to write, edit and produce high-quality Class Notes, your news typically appears two to three issues after you submit it.

Why can’t I read Class Notes online?

For privacy reasons, Class Notes are accessible only to alumni. You must be logged in to the Stanford Alumni Association site to read Class Notes. If you are not a member of the site, you can register for free.

Where do I send obituary information? And what should I include?

You may submit obituary information online or via mail or e-mail. Please use only one method of submission. When possible, please include the alum's full name, class year, city and state of residence, age, date and cause of death, activities at Stanford, career and volunteer highlights, and survivors (and their Stanford class years, if any). Copies of newspaper obituaries are welcome.

SUBMISSIONS

How do I submit a story idea to the magazine?

We depend on readers to bring some of our best stories to light. If you have an idea for us, send us a few sentences that explain the gist of the idea and why you think it would be a good fit for STANFORD. You are welcome to include background information. You can send ideas via e-mail, fax or mail. We also depend on alumni for essays and Stanford memories. Check out some of the ways you can be a part of the magazine.

Where do I send comments, corrections or letters to the editor?

Comments, corrections and letters to the editor are always welcome. Submit them online or via e-mail, fax or mail. Please include your phone number and/or e-mail address (for verification purposes only; not for publication), name, city and state, and Stanford class year, if any.

How do I get my book considered for the Shelf Life section?

Send a review copy to the Shelf Life editor at our address. We receive a lot of books, but we try to write about as many as possible. If your book is selected, it may take several issues for it to be included.

How do I enter the annual fiction contest?

Our annual fiction contest is open to alumni of Stanford undergraduate, graduate and fellowship programs. Entry instructions are available here.
