engine revved and music
thumping, the JL421 Badonkadonk often can be found tearing
across campus, leaving people wondering what exactly
they just saw. The brainchild of former Stanford Band
drummers Neal Ormond, ’01 (shown), and Frank Pollock,
’03, the mini land tank made its 2002 debut at
the Burning Man festival in Nevada and now appears regularly
at Band events. But don’t let the Donk’s
rust patina fool you. Its interior—which comfortably
seats five—is carpeted and upholstered, and fitted
with a premium sound system and mood lighting. Amazon.com
shoppers can take the wheel of a customized Donk for
only $19,999.95. There have been no buyers thus far.
