To make any trip back to campus easier, follow these parking pointers:

  • Drive to the Transportation Programs office at 855 Serra. Drop a quarter in the meter, walk into the building, get a parking map of campus and purchase a one-day "C" permit for $2. Or, if you're a big spender, buy the $6 "A" permit.

  • If you live in the Bay Area or are staying there, take CalTrain to the Palo Alto station, debark and walk, bike or take the free Marguerite shuttle to the heart of campus.

  • For football games, come up or down Interstate 280, exit at Alpine, turn first on Junipero Serra and then on Campus Drive at the Golf Course. Turn left on Quarry Road and then right on Arboretum. You can park in the lots on either side of the road. You're still a 10-minute stroll from the game, but you've saved up to 30 minutes getting there by end-running Embarcadero, so don't sweat it.

  • Emulate former Stanford presidents from David Starr Jordan to Don Kennedy and bike around campus. Cycles can be rented at the Campus Bike Shop, near the Law School, or the Bike Connection, on El Camino a half block south of Stanford Avenue.

  • Campus parking and a parking map are available on-line. You also can call the Transportation Programs office at (415) 723-9362.
