Jeff Cornelius, Summer Staff Director
Camp Experience: Munchkins, Yahoos, Snoopers
A recent graduate (’09 yeahhh) Stanford Sierra Camp was the most important aspect of Jeff’s Stanford experience. Now, as Staff Director, he has the good fortune of being able to dream, think, and talk about camp all day, every day. He enjoys lake jumps, getting huge, catching magical candy fish, and reading children’s books. Jeff would love to talk to YOU about camp. Shoot him an email or swing by the camp cubicle on the second floor of the Alumni Center--it is a friendly place, with nice pictures and a candy bowl. Come visit!

Antja Thompson, Associate Camp Director
Camp Experience: Everything!
Antja ('00) knows everything there is to know about Camp. She's done a bunch of different jobs, from Yahoos Counselor, to Kids Group Coordinator, to Summer Staph Director, but she's never left SSC. Other than being the designated "bear-scarer" at Camp, Antja enjoys riding her skateboard to lunch with friends, playing her fiddle at Music Hour, and dancing like a cyclone. She also is an amateur rap artist, thinks bats are the coolest, and believes in making greeting cards rather than buying them. On the official side, Antja makes sure teamwork makes the dream work at Camp. Antja loves meeting new people and would enjoy chatting with you about Camp or anything you might want to know. |

Gus Horwith, Interviewing Committee
Camp Experience: Sailing Instructor
Single, male, enjoys long swims in a lake, sunset lake-jumps, and lakes, in general. Seeks someone to hold his hand as we take the plunge.
This was the personal ad Gus ran in the Stanford Daily for three years, and for three long years, it languished, unanswered. Then, last spring, a special someone—or rather 59 special someones—responded to his personal ad and soon they had their first date on Fallen Leaf Lake. What followed was a whirlwind romance and the best summer of Gus’ life. However, all good things must come to an end, and in September Gus had to return to Stanford and a life without lake-jumping. What they say is true, though, and sometimes lightning does strike twice! Gus can’t be more excited to be reunited with his beloved lake and his beloved-er fellow Staphers this coming summer for another amazing 12 weeks.

Kim Basurto, Interviewing Committee
Camp Experience: Menehunes Instructor
Kim is a Senior majoring in Human Biology and Psychology. She worked last summer with the Menehunes and loved the songs, story-telling, and silliness! When she’s not reminiscing about the awesomeness of Camp, she enjoys playing soccer, watching Disney movies, eating cookies, and dancing around to the Spice Girls. She is so excited to be on ICOM this year and can’t wait to meet you…yes you! Sierra Camp is the best place she’s ever lived, worked, and played, so if you have any questions, she’d love to talk about to you about it. |

Zach D'Angelo, Interviewing Committee
Camp Experience: Snoopers
Zach is a self-proclaimed goofball. He loves dancing in public and playing rhyming games. He’s ridiculously good at Snake on old-school Nokia phones, loves cookie dough and dreams of one day being a back up dancer for Lady Gaga. Zach adored being a snoopers counselor this summer and wishes to one day be as candid as the five year olds he counseled (“I like your face” –Sofia, 5) He is super stoked about SSC 2010 and returning to one of the most magical places on earth!!! Zach loves meeting new people, so if you don’t already know him he would like very much to meet you. |

Rebecca Castro, Interviewing Committee
Camp Experience: Naturalist
A day in the life of Becca, Camp Naturalist....
Her roommate wakes her up because she’s sleep talking again…something about waterslides or needing to balance the other side of her face with cookie crumbs… She joyfully skips outside with a huge smile on her face to greet the morning and instantly catches sight of three other Sierra Camp staphers that she worked with last summer and is thrown into a hurricane of memories from Disco Bingo to Hobart shifts, to Housekeeping, conquering Mt. Whitney, nature walks, ukuleles, sleeping under the stars, sailboats and clouds on the lake… to the best summer of her life! Then she daydreams about what the staphers for next year will be like, has a staring contest with a mountain lion… thanks the high heavens that she was in a car during this encounter (and that there are only black bears at Camp), and thinks about how, as a sophomore, she’s stoked to be on ICOM, and would love to talk about Sierra Camp to anyone even remotely interested! |

Julio Delgado, Interviewing Committee
Camp Experience: Munchkins, Yahoos
Julio is a junior majoring Political Science and Spanish Literature. He has had the privilege of working with Munchkins and Yahoos over the past two summers- kids are his life! Anyways, aside from his daily conquest in trying to be world emperor, he is also living the dream. In this dream, he loves speaking Spanish, playing sports, and most of all helping others realize their dream through various student groups. Over the last two years, he went from being a So-Ca,l beach-loving, family-oriented city boy who believed that all you needed in life was love, to a Nor-Cal nature-loving, tree-hugging, outgoing man that believes that dreams come true. If you want to know about his deep passionate love of SSC for hours (or minutes) then hit him up. |

David Havens, Interviewing Committee
Camp Experience: Munchkins
I just heard a great joke: How do you get down from an elephant? Well I won’t bore you with the answer here, but I will tell you a little bit about me! I’m an “advanced beginner” when it comes to whitewater kayaking, a “beginning advanced” when it comes to singing, laughing, loving, and a “has not yet begun to advance” when it comes to what I’m going to do with my life! I love to learn, and currently I’m learning about biology, brains, people, and poets. Sound fun? It is! Last summer I was a Munchkins counselor at Sierra Camp. I can’t wait to meet you all – If you see me, introduce yourself, and you might learn just how to get down from an elephant… |
