Alie Fohner, Staff Director
Camp Experience: Art Instructor, Snoopers, Kids' Group Coordinator
Alie (Bio '07, Bio-coterm '08) thinks she's pretty lucky to have a job doing something she'd do anyway: think about Camp. Of her millions of incredible memories from summers on Fallen Leaf, she'd have to say a few favorites are: learning how to slalom ski, pentalake, cabin roommates, telling stories to captivated 5 year olds, inventing milkshake flavors, seeing staphers back on campus, triscadecapeak, having guests remember everything about her year after year, vegetable-offs in the lake after a dinner shift, Full Moon on Tallac, half-cooked pancakes, building covered wagons for the Yahoos, and the smell of the mountains in the morning. She would love to answer any questions you may have about these or anything else. She loves talking about Camp.

Antja Thompson, Associate Camp Director
Camp Experience: Everything!
Antja ('00) knows everything there is to know about Camp. She's done a bunch of different jobs, from Yahoos Counselor, to Kids Group Coordinator, to Summer Staph Director, but she's never left SSC. Other than being the designated "bear-scarer" at Camp, Antja enjoys riding her skateboard to lunch with friends, playing her fiddle at Music Hour, and dancing like a cyclone. She also is an amateur rap artist, thinks bats are the coolest, and believes in making greeting cards rather than buying them. On the official side, Antja makes sure teamwork makes the dream work at Camp. Antja loves meeting new people and would enjoy chatting with you about Camp or anything you might want to know. |

Jolene Kokroko, Kids Group Coordinator
Camp Experience: Kitchen, Munchkins
Even as a junior in college, Jolene has found it hard to want to grow up. On a daily basis, she would rather drink hot chocolate with whipped cream, read Dr. Seuss books, make up songs about the little things of life, play in the rain, eat ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner, hike up a mountain, and run around imagining she was on a rocket ship to space. Luckily she has found Sierra Camp fulfills all her daily dreams and more. She can think of no better place than SSC to live, learn and have fun among people who are so different than herself. She is excited and ready to get back in the mix for summer 2009 and hopes to see you there as well. |

Becca Richardson, Coordinator for Diversity and Inclusion
Camp Experience: Music Instructor
There once was a beautiful Camp,
It had limitless trails to tramp.
So if you want a great summer,
It won't be a bummer,
If you work at Sierra Camp!
Please forgive me for my poor poetry skills. My name's Becca and I'm class of OLEVEN (that never really made sense to me either)! In my free time I enjoy playing guitar, playing cards, writing cards, writing checks, checking parking meters, parallel parking, parallel lines, linear regression, regressing to childhood, watching Robin Hood...etc. Other than that, my favorite color is purple, I love eating cereal for dinner, and my favorite place in the world is SSC*.

Garner Kropp, Interviewing Committee
Camp Experience: Ski Dock Instructor
“Mmm…cinnamon. That’s what he reminds me of. Cinnamon – an earthy spice that can be great for everything from a sugary tiramisu to an extra zing in a spicy mole poblano. He’s been a huge influence on my life. If anything, he showed me you can’t dish out a real succulent panko-crusted sea bass without belting some showtunes in the kitchen. There was this one time when Garner whipped up for me a guaba-starfruit sorbet he learned from a native agroforester in Peru. Ohhh…bam, baby. Bam!” –Emeril Lagasse |

Graham Carroll, Interviewing Committee
Camp Experience: Photographer
Graham is a Senior majoring in Human Biology. He worked last summer as the camp photographer, and hopes to spend a larger percentage of his 2009 summer camp experience drowning in Hobart awesomeness. He enjoys fly fishing and flying planes, and sometimes both at the same time. If Graham were an animal he'd be a platypus. He's stoked to be on ICOM and can't wait to come to work in a suit and tie. |

Hannah Cory, Interviewing Committee
Camp Experience: Volleyball Instructor
Hannah is a sophomore, currently on an epic bounty-hunt for a major. When she isn’t busy on that tireless trail, she likes to bake cookies, pretend she isn’t obsessed with football, talk with a Southern accent (technically she’s from NorCal), act at least half her age and dance around to Whitney Houston. You may ask yourself why Hannah doesn’t have more hobbies, the answer is simple: Hannah spent this last summer as Volleyball Instructor at SSC and she can’t get over it. Thank goodness she got hired to work for camp all year round, now she has an excuse to get uber-psyched for making another incredible summer full of memories. Feel free to ask her any questions you have about becoming part of the place she considers paradise, she’d more than love to talk to you about it. |

Jeff Cornelius, Interviewing Committee
Camp Experience: Munchkins, Yahoos
The walls of Jeff's room are covered with the pages of Where the Wild Things Are. He longs to don his wolf suit, move to Ireland, and become the most wild thing of all. Until then, he plans on working at Sierra Camp as much as possible. It's his favorite place in the world, and certainly the best job he's ever had. 2009 will be his third summer up at camp, and he couldn't be more pumped. He did Munchkins in 2007 and Yahoos in 2008, so he's well-versed in the adventures of being a kids' group counselor. Feel free to drop him an email, or stop by Suites (Jenkins 103) if you ever want to talk about camp. Huzzah! |
